What you give up
- Real market prices. Yours will have whatever you type in, or whatever a free feed gives you for one game.
- AI grading, which is the thing the paywall actually sells.
- The giveaways — PRO entry into pack draws is a real reason people subscribe and it is not a feature you can build.
- Scanning accuracy tuned on millions of cards. A general vision model will miss on foils, holos and anything in a sleeve.
Why people still pay
Because the number has to be right. A collection tracker is a spreadsheet with a camera bolted on, and everybody knows it — what $35 a year buys is somebody else paying for the price feed and keeping it current. The giveaways do the rest of the work.
